Description
La Grande Abbesse Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2016. NEW TO TOB.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. 18 months barrel maturation, one third new barrels.
A very fine Saint-Émilion Grand Cru entering its prime. There’s gorgeous fruit intensity, plum jam and summer fruit compote, a rich coffee and cola dimension, oak and earthy forest floor notes, graphite and woodsmoke, herbs, bitters, citrus jams, and more. Complex! Palate is balanced and at the full end of medium bodied, just rich enough to please and just serious enough to maintain an overall sense of classical gravitas.
