Alcohol purchases and the law.

It is absolutely forbidden by law to purchase or attempt to purchase any alcoholic drinks by any person who is under the age of 18 or to purchase such drinks on behalf of anybody who is under the age of 18. Delivery of alcoholic drinks such as wine should never be requested to be made to locations in which a person under the age of 18 may get hold of the alcoholic drinks. Australia Post drivers undertake to ask for ID showing age when delivery of alcoholic drinks is made to anybody who appears to be under 25 years old. No delivery driver should ever make delivery of alcoholic drinks to any person who appears to be under the age of 25. All people placing orders on The Other Bordeaux’s website is asked to confirm that they are of over legal drinking age by adding their date of birth.

You too can cancel your order if you need to up to the time it ships – we of course hope you don’t, but if circumstances arrive that require you to cancel the order, just reply to The Other Bordeaux via the confirmation email you received at the time the order was placed.

Age Requirements

To order from The Other Bordeaux, you must be at least 18 years of age. It is illegal in Australia to sell alcohol to persons under the age of 18 or to supply alcohol to anyone that we know will then pass it on to an underage person. If there is any suggestion that the law is not being adhered to then the order will be cancelled and the money refunded in full.

Unattended Delivery

If you have requested your order left unattended if there is nobody at the delivery address to accept the delivery – this also means The Other Bordeaux can’t be responsible for any missing items. If you are in any doubt as to the security of the location in which the wine might be left The Other Bordeaux recommends that the wine be sent with Australia Post for you to collect from your local Post Office with a signature. And the same applies if you have any concerns that wine left for you might be taken a person of less than 18 years then The Other Bordeaux recommends sending the wine with Australia Post so that collection with age ID can occur from your local Post Office when you are collecting it.

International Shipping

Wine shipments coming from France do so in temperature-controlled containers organised for The Other Bordeaux by the world’s leading wine-shipping business, called Hillebrand Gori, which is owned by DHL. While every care is taken to ensure that our shipments arrive within their predicted, two-month delivery window, and while – from over ten years of experience importing wine into Australia, spanning many hundreds of individual shipments – the greatest delay we have ever experienced is less than two months, it is of course possible that our shipments may be delayed by global and/or local political, meteorological, or maritime/mechanical/technical factors, which lead to arrival outside of these predicted windows. Whenever there is a significant delay, the new predicted ETA for the shipment will be updated on our website and you can see what this is by logging into your account and clicking on the individual product links for the wines you have ordered that you will find there. If you checked out as a guest or if you don’t have an account then you can still check the ETA of your shipment by visiting the “Track my shipment” page of our website where all information regarding forthcoming and past shipments will be found. If you still aren’t sure when your purchase will be arriving in Australia don’t hesitate to drop us a line via the Contact page of the website and we will give you the latest available information. In the highly unlikely event that a shipment is lost at sea or otherwise irreversibly damaged during the transport journey from France to our premises in Australia then rest assured that all of our shipments are fully insured by Hillebrand Gori between their departure from the vineyard in France through to their delivery to our premises in Australia and we will be able either to credit you for your initial order value against any future order, offer a replacement in kind, or make a refund to your bank account.
