Domaine Jean-Pierre Sève, Macon Solutré-Pouilly 2025
Producer: Domaine JP Sève
Region: Mâcon Solutré-Pouilly, Burgundy, France
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol (ABV): 13.5%
Winemaking:
Sourced from Chardonnay vineyards in the village of Solutré-Pouilly—nestled beneath the iconic Roche de Solutré—this cuvée is vinified with a focus on purity and freshness. The naming rights are a bit complicated but the wine is as directly/straightforwardly beautiful as you could hope.
Tasting Note:
A brilliantly expressive and immediately appealing white Burgundy, this Solutré-Pouilly 2025 delivers pure Chardonnay pleasure in every glass. The nose is vibrant and fruit-forward, bursting with notes of lemon zest, ripe citrus, and juicy stone fruit, alongside playful hints of Starburst candy, lemon tart, and creamy cheesecake. Subtle nutty nuances of toasted cashew add an extra layer of charm.
On the palate, it is tangy, juicy, and refreshingly dry, with a lively acidity that drives the wine forward. The absence of oak allows its crisp fruit and mineral edge to take centre stage, resulting in a wine that is both energetic and effortlessly drinkable. There’s a lovely balance between zesty brightness and a soft, rounded texture from lees ageing, finishing clean, mouth-watering, and moreish.
Utterly irresistible now and best enjoyed in its youth through to 2028, this is a “no-brainer” white Burgundy—perfect as an aperitif or paired with seafood, salads, or creamy goat’s cheese.
