Description
#14. “Le Clos des Quatre Vents” Margaux 2020.
60% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance is Merlot. From a minuscule 1.3 hectare vineyard. Fermented in oak and matured in 100% new oak for 18 months. 80-year-old vines. The flagship wine of Le Vignoble des Quatre Vents.
You would never know that this wine was born and raised in oak with the aromatics being dark and low, woody? yes, but in an earthy subtle way, detailed and intricate nuances, tarry, soy sauce, spice, furtive charm, earth and smoked meat, pan juices, flashes of floral perfume, char-grilled meat, flashes of floral perfume from out of the darkness, but the palate is an extrovert screamer, rigorous and muscular, lithe and long. Needs time in cellar, decanter, or glass to blossom aromatically but it’s all there on the palate, with haute couture structure and class. Fabulous Margaux for a really very down-to-earth Margaux price.
