Description
“Côtes Blanches” Sancerre 2022 by Nicolas Millet.
100% Sauvignon Blanc.
“I hate Sauvignon Blanc but I LOVE Sancerre” is one of those things you hear quite often and sounds like a joke (because white Sancerre is always made from Sauvignon Blanc) and yet it’s also completely understandable too because good Sancerre really DOES look so completely unlike all those oceans of grassy/passion fruit Sauvignon Blanc that have given this noble grape such a bad reputation in certain quarters. While the Côtes Blanches Sancerre 2022 weighs in at a relatively light 12.5% ABV the fruit here is somehow blissfully ripe and clear of all green and herbaceous/capsicum-type aromas, delivering instead a bouquet that is like apple tart and lemon cheesecake rolled into one mellow and inviting perfume with subtle notes of quince and caramel in the background. And while the palate is perfectly lithe, poised, and food-friendly, it is also generously soft and inviting, caressing the palate with its gentle gossamer texture. Yes, it’s Sauvignon Blanc but to say it’s Sancerre really tells you so much more about how delicious this wine really is.
DON’T SERVE TOO COLD! AROUND 10 TO 15 DEGREES CELSIUS SHOULD BE FINE.
