“I hate Sauvignon Blanc but I LOVE Sancerre” is one of those things you hear quite often and sounds like a joke (because white Sancerre is always made from Sauvignon Blanc) and yet it’s also completely understandable too because good Sancerre really DOES look so completely unlike all those oceans of grassy/passion fruit Sauvignon Blanc that have given this noble grape such a bad reputation in certain quarters.
This new 2023 blossoms with ripe and lifted notes of sweet ginger, lemongrass, custard, vanilla, lemon tart, sherbet, and white peach, while the palate simply nails the drinkability bullseye: dry, juicy, softly textured and long. Sancerre perfection from a ripe and flavoursome vintage.
