I met Father/Daughter duo Philippe and Anne Brisebarre at Wine Paris in February and was absolutely ecstatic to find an extremely high quality/value-for-money Vouvray offering from such a genuine team, running a down-to-earth family business in one of the world’s greatest white wine districts, and making wines of genuine craftsmanship that can be drunk now or over two decades to come, such is the magical power of Chenin Blanc when it is well managed.
Quintessential Chenin fruit with lemon tart, white peach, butter, and that “lanolin” note that for me is the unmistakable calling card of Chenin Blanc. The palate is racy, dry, juicy, moreish, and long. Straight forwardly delicious but with Chenin Blanc’s completely unique capacity to age beautifully for a couple of decades. Benchmark Vouvray.
