Tasting Note
A bold and expressive Margaux that reflects the richness and stature of the exceptional 2022 vintage. Deeply coloured in the glass, it opens with an alluring, smoky bouquet of cured meats, pan juices, and cigar box, layered with notes of vanilla, toasted spice, and well-integrated oak.
On the palate, the wine makes an immediate impression with its firm structure and broad shoulders, before seamlessly softening into a generous, mouth-filling texture. Ripe dark fruits emerge—blackberry and plum—interwoven with savoury nuances and a gentle warmth that adds to its enveloping character. The tannins, while present and authoritative, are supple and polished, giving way to a long, expansive finish that lingers with spice and earthy complexity.
This is a plush, full-bodied Margaux with both power and charm—a true “bear-hug” of a wine. Drinking beautifully now with aeration, it will continue to evolve gracefully through to 2035 and beyond. Perfect alongside slow-roasted beef and ideally Yorkshire puddings, lamb shoulder, or hearty winter dishes.
