Domaine du Grand Tinel Côtes-du-Rhône rouge 2024.
Domaine du Grand Tinel Côtes-du-Rhône rouge 2024
Producer: Domaine du Grand Tinel
Region: Côtes-du-Rhône AOC, Southern Rhône Valley, France
Grape Variety: 71% Grenache, 24% Mourvèdre, 5% Syrah and others.
Alcohol (ABV): 14.5%
Winemaking:
Produced by a highly respected Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate, this Côtes-du-Rhône benefits from the same meticulous vineyard management and winemaking philosophy as its more prestigious stablemates. The cooler 2024 vintage allowed for slower ripening, enhancing aromatic vibrancy and freshness. Grapes are fermented in concrete vats with gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity and luminosity. The wine is aged in large oak vats fo 12 months to capture both approachability and Rhône typicity.
Tasting Note:
A standout from a cooler southern Rhône vintage, Domaine du Grand Tinel’s 2024 Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge punches well above its weight, delivering immediate charm alongside impressive depth. The nose is vivid and inviting, brimming with ripe red berries, crushed strawberries, and black cherries, laced with hints of pepper, dried herbs, and a touch of liquorice. There’s a freshness and lift here that sets it apart, giving a more refined and energetic aromatic profile than many warmer-year counterparts.
On the palate, the wine is supple, generous, and beautifully balanced. Juicy red and dark fruits flow effortlessly across a medium- to full-bodied frame, supported by silky tannins and a lively acidity that reflects the cooler vintage conditions. Subtle spice and garrigue notes add complexity, while the finish is smooth, persistent, and dangerously drinkable.
Remarkably, it shows such immediate appeal that it rivals—and even outshines—some Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines for current drinking, including its own stablemates. I will get Grand Tinel’s CNDPs in future for sure but the 2024 CdR is just so good that I am going to make hay with this one while we can.
Enjoy now through to 2032.
Perfect with grilled meats, Mediterranean dishes, or simply on its own, this is exceptional value and pure Rhône pleasure.
