Camille Cayran Rasteau 2023. New to TOB.

Grape Varieties: 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre
ABV: 14.5%
Region: Rasteau AOC, Southern Rhône Valley, France. Rasteau is a neighbouring appellation to Cairanne, terraced on sunny south facing slopes famed among wine growers for their blue clays that give their wines firm structure.

The 2023 Rasteau Organic Red is a bold and authentic expression of this sun-drenched Rhône appellation, offering both richness and balance. Grenache leads with plush notes of black cherry, fig, and kirsch, while Syrah contributes smoky spice and violet lift. Mourvèdre grounds the blend with earthy complexity and firm structure. The bouquet is layered and inviting—ripe dark fruit, crushed herbs, anise, and warm stones evoke the heat and rugged charm of Rasteau’s hillside vineyards.

On the palate, it’s full-bodied and generous, with firm but polished tannins and a fresh mineral thread that keeps its shape. Concentrated flavours of blackberry compote, cocoa nib, and dried rosemary unfurl into a long, savoury finish. This is a wine built for both pleasure now or the cellar for later. Drink now with hearty fare like beef casserole, lasagna, or grilled portobello mushrooms, or cellar confidently for 6–8 years. A quintessential Rasteau: bold, structured, and unmistakably southern Rhône.
