Domaine de Pignan’s 2024 Côtes du Rhône delivers a bold and rich expression of the southern Rhône, where Grenache’s generous fruit meets Syrah’s black pepper spice and depth. The wine opens with intense aromas of ripe blackberry, plum compote, and dried herbs, accented by the Syrah’s hallmark black pepper and subtle violet lift.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, yet balanced by juicy acidity and fine-grained tannins. The Grenache brings warmth, red berry richness, and Mediterranean herbs, while the Syrah lends dark fruit intensity and a savoury, spicy edge. The finish is robust and lingering, with notes of black cherry and crushed peppercorns.
This characterful red pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, cassoulet, or aubergine parmigiana. Best enjoyed over the next 3–5 years for its vibrant fruit and southern charm. A wine that captures the essence of Rhône sunshine in every glass but it’s the black pepper spice of the Syrah in 2024 that I really love.
