I had been desperate to try this wine from the first time I clapped eyes on the label many years ago and so it was a pleasure to finally meet with winemaker Jérôme Pabiot in February this year and taste his latest creations. It was very clear that when you have the right vineyards in the Pouilly-Fumé district you can make wine that is clearly better than any Sancerre you will ever find for the same price. This wine is a massive over-performer – and I just LOVE that label too!
Aromatics are extremely close to those you find in good Sancerre with ripe stone fruits, kaffir lime, lemon tart, hints of orange and subtle jasmine, while the palate is vivacious, buzzing with crisp acidity, generous juicy texture, balance and length.
