Provenance: Clos des Lunes is no ordinary Bordeaux blanc! The team at Domaine de Chevalier (extremely well thought-of estate in Pessac-Léognan, famed for making the greatest white wine in Bordeaux) purchased the Clos des Lunes estate that is situated halfway between Château d’Yquem and Château Guiraud in Sauternes! Yep, they bought what is perhaps the most hallowed ground on Earth for the making of sweet wines determined to make Bordeaux’s greatest dry white wines.
The wine is delicately barrel-aged.
Tasting Note:
The 2024 Lune d’Argent from Clos des Lunes is a sleek and refreshing Bordeaux Blanc that marries classic minerality with modern precision. The nose is delicately expressive, revealing notes of white peach, citrus zest, crushed stones, a faint touch of gooseberry, and a whisp of smoke. On the palate, it’s dry, clean, and invigorating, with bright acidity cutting through a supple, medium-bodied frame.
The dominance of Sémillon lends subtle roundness and depth, while Sauvignon Blanc contributes aromatic lift and crisp tension. A mineral-laced finish leaves a lingering impression of flint and orchard fruit, making this wine a superb partner for shellfish, grilled fish, asparagus, or chèvre-based dishes.
Serve chilled at 8–10°C. Ready to enjoy now, with graceful aging potential through 2030. A beautifully crafted white Bordeaux that combines purity, freshness, and quiet sophistication. Rated 92-93/100 by James Suckling.
