100% Chardonnay.
Undoubtedly the best vintage of this wine I have ever tasted and a perennial favourite of TOB customers over the last 5 years. While the 2021 was on the light side and the 2022 was extremely ripe, this new 2023 nails the perfect balance of the best characteristics of of both the two preceding vintages. It’s got fantastic Chardonnay fruit expression in the lemon tart and white peach spectrum, with complexing notes of smoky oak and vanilla, while the palate is pure finesse with generosity in the mouth held firm by buzzing acidity on the finish. The barrel fermentation is subtle but supporting and the overall effect is quintessentially Burgundian, but for a fraction of the price of its equivalents from Burgundy itself.
