Domaine Berthenet “Blanc de Blancs”, sparkling white wine from Burgundy, brut NV.
A blend of over 80% Chardonnay while the balance is Aligoté. Certified as a “crémant de Bourgogne”, i.e. a sparkling wine from Burgundy, fermented in bottle like Champagne and cellar aged for a minimum of 12 months before release.
This just nails the celebratory taste of French sparkling wine: the peachy stone fruit, toasty biscuit, nuts, delicate floral perfume, and a palate that is dry, crisply textured, and long. A dead ringer for Bollinger in its powerful style.
