Did you know that Sancerre is also one of France’s top regions for Pinot Noir and can easily match Burgundy in many vital respects, especially in cracker vintages like 2023 that was hot and dry, giving this ripe and intense Pinot Noir that delivers lashings of dark brambly fruit, earthy complexity, and deep aromatic attractiveness, smokey, meaty, and layered. But it’s not a wine that is simply built on its fruit, swathed as it is in all the savoury notes that Pinot can bring out from the herbal and floral spectrum. The palate is dry and at the fuller end of medium bodied with gentle tannins and soft mouthfeel. Previous vintages of this wine have proven that it evolves very well in bottle and quite swiftly too in its first five years of life.
