Description
Domaine du Père Benoit “Cuvée Tane” Brouilly RED, vintage 2019.
100% Gamay. Average age of the vines used to grow this wine is 100 years. 10 months in barrel. The domaine’s icon wine comes from its oldest block of centurion vines – a mere 0.1 hectares – at the top of the hill of Brouilly.
Exceptional single vineyard personality, high-note purity, black currant and cherry jam, lifted and precise, soaring, pristine, crystal-clear definition, swathed in earthy complexity, cedar and tobacco, wood smoke and charcuterie, while the palate is full and generous, with firm but soft structure, sweetly savoury, finishing tight and long. 92 points out of 100 from James Suckling, reviewed in February 2023, plus a gold medal from the International Gamay Competition 2023.
Drink now to 2030.
