60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Shiraz. This is the Domaine’s icon wine and is made from vines up to 100-years-old (“vieilles vignes” means “old vines” of course) and the wine is then aged for a year in large format oak vats called “foudres”.
CNDP doesn’t get any better than this – or not until it has reached its peak in your cellar. The aromatics erupt from the glass in a blast of leather, cherry liqueur chocolate, polished antique wood, molasses, marzipan, roasted meat pan juices, smoky oak and bacon and more spicy notes, cloves and cinnamon, while the palate is voluminous, densely textured, suave, mouth-filling, and long. It’s a red wine drinker’s Nirvana. It doesn’t get any bigger or better than this.
