This is everything we love about great Châteauneuf-du-Pape — deep, rich fruit, wild southern spice, and that unmistakable warmth of the Rhône sun. The “Tradition” 2020 is a Grenache-led blend grown on the estate’s signature galets roulés (rounded stones) that soak up the heat during the day and give it back when the sun goes down, thereby maintaining the vines’ ripening processes deep into the cool night and creating a wine of ultra-ripe depth and power.

In the glass, this opens with seductive aromas of black cherry, cassis, and raspberry liqueur, wrapped in hints of liquorice, white pepper, lavender and dried herbs. The palate is plush and full-bodied but beautifully fresh, balancing richness with energy. Fine tannins carry the flavours through a long, spicy finish of wild thyme, crushed berries and garrigue.

Food pairings: Perfect with slow-cooked lamb shoulder, duck with cherries, grilled rosemary sausages, or a rich mushroom and lentil cassoulet. It also shines alongside hard cheeses like aged Comté or chunks of Parmesan are a personal favourite of mine.

Drink now or cellar with confidence through 2032. A compelling, character-filled Rhône red that punches well above its price — serious wine for those who love authenticity and flair.
