You can pay many hundreds of dollars a bottle for Premier Cru Nuits-Saint-Georges from this perfect section of the hillside and so I actually consider this wine a bit of a bargain when you look at the competition. Peak Burgundy to drink, cellar, or trade.
Dark in the glass and overflowing with suitably plangent fruit, ultra-pure black cherry jam reinforced with meaty and earthy complexity that is fully melded with the toasty new oak that remains firmly in the background but present through it all, accentuating the opulence of the Pinot and adding strength to the tannin structure, the backbone of a palate that is youthfully taut, muscular, and long. A very sleek, complete, and high impact Premier Cru that could be carefully cellared over 15 years or more, or requires decanting if being drunk young.
