This is the first vintage of the new-look Château Sainte-Marie Pomerol from a really exceptional vintage – 2022. The fruit is glossier than the 2020, the new oak more toasty and aromatic, and the livery finally looks the part, worthy of the quality inherent in this boutique Pomerol gem. This is also the first vintage where the price of the wine has gone up to meet the quality of the wine. After years of work to transform Ch. Sainte-Marie Pomerol, 2022 is the first vintage that delivers the whole new package with everything now in its rightful place. It is a regal looking wine both in the bottle and in the glass!
Dense and sultry fruit that surges from the glass, freshly smooshed blackberry and sloe gin spice, plums and marzipan, smoky duck skin, chocolate/vanilla, while the palate is svelte, textured, soft, round and long, with a firm backbone of tannin to see it through for the long term.
