Château La Fleur des Aubiers, Médoc 2019.
60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. From the Médoc, the home of Bordeaux’s greatest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards but where, as for this wine, Merlot is also grown in considerable quantities for its extra body and fruit weight.

Long gone are the days of lean and tannic Médoc reds, and the change of the times is particularly stark in stellar vintages like 2019 when hot summer weather brought out bold and ripe fruit aromatics in the grapes hanging from the vines of Ch. La Fleur des Aubiers, that translated into a dark wine offering punchy berry fruit, toasty/smoky oak and roasted meats, while the palate is at the full end of medium bodied, with  a round and smooth body and great length.
