Description
#4. Château Grand Clapeau-Olivier Haut-Médoc red 2019.
A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot.
The 2019 vintage of this wine is such a doozy that it has been awarded “Cru Bourgeois” status, an upper echelon quality certification awarded by the authorities in Bordeaux to particular wines that excel in a given year. For a wine this inexpensive to become a Cru Bourgeois is an extraordinary feat.
The fruit is intense and clear, blackberry and oak, rich and mellow, with spicy notes and notions of leather, while the palate is full and smooth and massively drinkable. Classic claret and exceptional value-for-money.
Drink now to 2028.
