Description
Champagne Yves Louvet “L’Arum d’Henriette” Premier Cru Extra Brut NV.
New to TOB.
100% Pinot Blanc. Did you know that Pinot Blanc is one of the official white grape varieties of Champagne?! While it is often upstaged by Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc also gives Champagnes of stunning aromatic expression and finesse, especially when it is grown on Premier Cru sites like this one is. The “Arum d’Henriette” (named after Frédéric’s grandmother Henriette) is both the flagship wine of the estate but also a statement of Frédéric’s determination to make wines of: ultra-high quality; complete individuality that tastes clearly original compared to “Big Brand” Champagnes; and that possess real heritage value by protecting an heirloom variety.
There’s a mystical elusiveness to the nose which shimmers between rich lemon tart fruit and a very delicate floral perfume that is more mineral than fruity, with hints of jasmine, lily, and talcum, while the palate is Extra Brut, which means seriously dry and racy, vivacious and long, with petite effervescence that crackles on the tongue.
