Côtes-du-Rhône VILLAGES is a quality level ABOVE regular Côtes-du-Rhône.
There is a distance of a metre or two between the end of Maucoil’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards and the start of the block that gives this wine and the proximity is clear in the glass: Dark purple in the glass with magenta and ruby flashes, uplifted blackberry fruit, lush and glossy, Cherry Ripe chocolate, coffee and citrus candy, earth, leather, and licorice notes, while the palate is ultra smooth, rich, and round. Full-bodied, juicy, and very satisfying.
Unfiltered and throws a harmless/taste-enhancing deposit. May be decanted but not necessary.
