Winemaker Nicolas Dabudyk originally hails from Burgundy and you can taste his roots in the elegance of his vinous creations from his minuscule 6 hectare vineyard. The 2019 “P’tit Canon” (a play on words because “petit Canon” means “a cheeky little drink” while also referencing the local winemaking region called Canon-Fronsac) offers intensely savoury fruit depth, deep earthiness, blackberries, blueberries, licorice, cherries, claret-like nuance that will exaggerate with age, and then a palate that is tight with gripping tannin, vigorous juiciness, and length. Opens up beautifully with a bit of air time in the glass or decanter. 2019 gave wines of incredible fruit expression and flair while still encapsulating Bordeaux’s tannin structure. Totally indulgent wine with burgundian artisan style. Going a bit wild with middle age.
Drink now to 2024. DECANT!
