100% Pinot Noir. Barrel aged. “Vieilles Vignes” means “old vines” and indicates a higher wine quality classification.
Old vines are particularly prized in Burgundy where Pinot Noir gives grapes that are thin-skinned when the vines are young but much thicker when they have been growing for at least two or three decades, resulting in much darker wine colour, aromatic intensity, and structural power, which explains the quantum quality leap you can clearly see in this wine. Old vines give a smaller crop of higher quality Pinot and are much rarer and more sought after as a result.
Dark in the glass, deep mulberry fruit, smoked plums and blackberry jam embedded with smoky oak, bbq-grilled meat, spice and earth, while the palate is roundly firm, full of flavour, and mouth-coating.
