From the second you pour this wine in the glass you can see – and smell! – why Côte du Py has become such a cult commune of the Morgon district, which has itself always punched above the weight of other Beaujolais villages.
Dark purple elixir, meaty aromatic punch, dark and profound, fruit and oak compounded together in a tight aromatic mass, dark smoky complexity around the core but there’s a fresh perfumed chocolate-minty layer too, charry crispy duck and gunpowder tea, highly complex. The palate is bullish and rugged, tight and strong, assertively medium-bodied bordering on full, macho and young. Would love a few years in the cellar to cool its tiger-ish youth! 13%. Natural cork.
