The Château Vieille Dynastie Cuvée “Éléonore” Lalande-de-Pomerol 2016 is an extraordinary and highly individual interpretation of a region more commonly celebrated for Merlot. Produced exclusively from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this rare cuvée demonstrates both the remarkable quality of the exceptional 2016 vintage and the immense potential of the variety on the Right Bank. Deep garnet in colour with youthful intensity, it opens with an intricate bouquet of blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and wild blackberry, layered with graphite, cedar, cigar box, violets, crushed herbs and subtle notes of truffle, dark cocoa and warm spice. The palate is powerful yet beautifully composed, with finely chiselled tannins supporting a dense core of dark fruit. Barrel maturation contributes polish and complexity, while amphora ageing preserves freshness, purity and remarkable precision. The finish is long, savoury and mineral, revealing new layers with every sip and rewarding slow, contemplative drinking.
Éléonore is a wine for sommeliers, collectors and lovers of classically structured Bordeaux seeking something beyond the immediate generosity of Merlot. It is an exceptional companion to roasted lamb, aged beef, duck, game birds like quail or partridge, truffle-infused dishes and other ambitious gastronomic cuisine. Although already revealing impressive complexity with careful decanting, this remarkable wine is built for the long term and will continue to evolve beautifully through 2035, developing ever greater nuance, elegance and tertiary character with extended cellaring.
