While I’ve been importing the Pouilly-Fuissé wines of Domaine JP Sève for some years now, 2022 is the first vintage that has been allowed to carry the highly sought after “Premier Cru” quality designation. Pouilly-Fuissé was already well established as the most famous area of southern Burgundy for Chardonnay and local growers had been pushing for decades to get legal recognition of the best of the best vineyards in this very special Chardonnay-growing area. The finest wines in Pouilly-Fuissé are now quite rightly crowned as Premier Crus and this is the best of them that I have tried so far.
High impact nose of lemon tart, butter, toasted cashews, white peach, pear, butter, vanilla, sweet oak, honey, straw and wet stones, while the palate is vigorous, textured, dry, and energetic with juicy zing and length. Indulgent Chardonnay heaven!
