Like a high octane red Burgundy this has brooding fruit, the darkest dark side of Pinot Noir, black cherry essence, smoked-tea duck, cinnamon and pepper, intensely serious in style, rich without opulence, perfumed without being exotic, it is besuited and tailor-made in its careful and conservative cut, with fruit and savoury complexity/woody-earthiness in equal proportion. A meaty edge to the tannins and a perfectly weighted drive to the body that is satisfying but never cloying. A Burgundy-lover’s kind of Gigondas. Made by the creative genius that is Jérôme Benoît.
