Rasteau has a reputation for wines with real presence, and this release puts fruit intensity firmly alongside the structure delivered by its celebrated blue-clay terroir. Grenache dominates at 60% and brings the dark and ripe fruit intensity, backed by Syrah for spice and Mourvèdre for earthy meatiness, producing a wine that can be described as structured, intense, focused and yet generous. Minimal oak has been used deliberately, preserving vibrancy and precision rather than allowing maturation to overwhelm the wine’s natural character.
At 14.5% alcohol, there is no shortage of scale, but this is not simply about power and volume. The appeal is in the meeting of intensity and focus—the generous side of the wine held together by a clear structural framework. That makes it feel purposeful rather than oversized and gives it the depth to work equally well as a satisfying bottle now or as a red with the cellaring potential to carry it through to 2033, developing complexity and softness along the way.
Serve at around 19°C alongside slow-roasted lamb shoulder, beef casserole or grilled aubergine with herbs. Certified organic, powerful and controlled, this is a compelling expression of Rasteau’s more sinewy personality.
