The Montjau Côtes-du-Rhône 2024 is a clasically authentic expression of the southern Rhône, born from a spectacular certified organic single vineyard perched on a hilltop plateau overlooking the right bank of the Rhône River towards the iconic slopes of Mont Ventoux (the spiritual heart of the Rhône for eons, made famous over the last century by the Tour de France).

A cooler growing season in 2024 has produced a classically proportioned wine of remarkable poise, where vibrant fruit is matched by layers of earthy, savoury complexity. Aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry and ripe plum intertwine with cracked black pepper, dried thyme, rosemary, violet and subtle notes of warm earth, leather and graphite. The palate is generous yet composed, with Grenache bringing supple red fruit, Syrah contributing depth and spice, while Mourvèdre and Carignan add structure, wild herbs and a lingering mineral edge. Fine, persistent tannins carry the wine through a long, contemplative finish that speaks eloquently of place and vintage. Equally rewarding alongside slow-roasted lamb, wild mushroom dishes, game or aged cheeses, this soulful Rhône is delicious now and will continue to develop beautifully over the next few years, revealing even greater nuance and character with time in the cellar.
