The 2022 vintage was a stunner (my favourite Bordeaux vintage since 2010) and marks a new high point for Château Bonneau, delivering an Haut-Médoc that combines power, finesse, and sheer drinkability. Dark ruby with a vivid magenta rim, its visual intensity hints at the bold aromatics to follow: ripe black cherry, cassis, and cherry liqueur lifted by classic Cabernet notes of menthol, graphite, and pencil shavings. There’s an elegant freshness here that defines the vintage—polished, modern, and cleanly extracted.
On the palate, the wine walks a confident line between medium and full-bodied, offering supple tannins and a vibrant structure. The Merlot brings plushness, while Petit Verdot adds a discreet, spicy edge. Stylish and composed, this is Left Bank Bordeaux at its most accessible and refined.
Ready to enjoy now, it will continue to evolve gracefully through 2030. A smart match for grilled ribeye, duck breast, or aged Comté. Unquestionably the estate’s finest release to date.
