Over the last few months I’ve accumulated a small collection of bottles with various degrees of wine-staining on the labels. Some of the labels got a full shower of red wine while some are only minorly stained, some have been scuffed or torn, and others just have a wine stain on the back label: but unless a bottle is in close-to-perfect condition then I won’t sell it at full price.
So I’ve used these imperfectly labelled bottles to create a mixed dozen that contains 9 bottles of red and 3 bottles of white at a token price of $15 per bottle. Because bottle labels get stained or damaged due to completely random factors, we cannot make every box identical so instead we divide up the affected bottles into price categories and put each mixed dozen together so that it contains as close as is possible to:
One bottle of a red wine worth over $80; three bottles of red worth between $50 and $80; five bottles of red worth between $20 and $50; one bottle of white worth over $50; two bottles of white worth between $30 and $40.
This means that this mixed dozen contains well over $450 of wine (at their normal retail prices) for today’s special price of $180, including free freight to anywhere in Australia.
This mixed dozens has been pre-packed and its contents can’t be changed but if you have a love of French wine, and you don’t mind some less than perfect labels, then you will find these to be an extremely smart way to buy some great wine at a massive discount.
