Château Lafon Sauternes 2023.

NEWS FLASH! November 18th 2025. Did you know that the vineyards of Château Lafon are literally located – like an island or peninsula – within the vineyards of their immediate neighbour Château d’Yquem? Well, it has just been announced that Yquem has purchased Château Lafon in order to incorporate their production into that of Yquem. As a result, vintages 2023 and 2024 will be the last to be made and sold as Château Lafon and from vintage 2025 onwards Lafon’s grapes will be incorporated into the wines of Château d’Yquem. Remember, Yquem sells for about 20 times more per bottle than Lafon. Do the maths… and make the most of Ch. Lafon while we can still get it.

Tasting Note:
A sensational example of the 2023 vintage, Château Lafon Sauternes is a true gem for sweet wine lovers—offering grand cru-level botrytis expression at an exceptional value. The nose is a heady perfume of sun-dried apricots, orange marmalade, buttered toast, and candied cumquat, threaded with warm spice and cocoa oak. It’s luscious yet refined.

On the palate, it pours across the tongue in a wave of golden intensity, where bright acidity and rich sweetness are held in exquisite balance. Each sip delivers layer upon layer of stone fruit, citrus peel, honeyed nuts, and a whisper of vanilla, culminating in a long, mouth-coating finish.

A classic Sauternes ideal for pairing with blue cheese, fruit tarts, or foie gras. Drink now to 2035+; it will evolve gracefully for well over a decade.
