Drinking Châteauneuf-du-Pape is my favourite past-time (well, on Friday evenings at any rate) and so buying it for import must surely therefore be my second favourite activity and it is definitely the part of the job I most look forward to. And let’s be honest, even entry level CNDP is pretty darn good but this, for a few dollars more, represents exquisite value-for-money. In fact, it’s a complete doozy of a wine: surging Grenache fruit, strawberry and cherry coulis, tarry spice with billowing perfume, vanilla and cinnamon, cloves, ginger, gunpowder smoke, baking biscuits, and more, while the palate is herculean, big, round, smooth, and long.
