Domaine Desertaux-Ferrand Beaune Premier Cru “Les Sceaux” 2022. NEW.
100% Pinot Noir.
I’m not saying this is “cheap” but, for Premier Cru Burgundy from the hallowed soils of a particular named place – Les Sceaux, a Premier Cru parcel of vines – on the Côte de Beaune, from a small family-owned estate and a great vintage, then this is value-for-money that’s hard-to-beat. It’s classic Burgundy with intense Pinot fruit, buxom griottes (mini ultra-sweet cherries with back palate bite) and cranberry sauce, pungent locally-made Burgundian oak barrel aromas like smoke and cloves, caramelised blackberry crumble, and more forest floor earthiness to come if you can give this some extra age, while the palate is like a sharply cut suit with elegant and firm tannins, a backbone of acidity, and balancing richness that gives great Burgundy its “sweet and sour” attractiveness in youth and that will also allow the wine to evolve effortlessly over a decade or two. A delicious wine from a top flight vineyard and producer right in the heart of the most famous Pinot Noir district on the planet.
Please note that this is the 2022 that I am offering you here and not the 2019 in the picture because no photograph of the 2022 vintage is currently available.
13% ABV.
