Vignoble Brisebarre Vouvray “Amédée” Vouvray Sec 2018. NEW.

100% Chenin Blanc. Barrel ferment.

I had been looking for a true artisan Vouvray producer for YEARS until I met father/daughter winemaking duo Philippe and Anne Brisebarre at Wine Paris earlier this year. Not only did they have great value Vouvray for drinking young, they also have a wine ageing programme for this cuvée – called “Amédée – that is fermented and aged in barrel with results that are somewhat burgundian but with the bonus of the Chenin Blanc genie that gives these wines seeming immortality!

Ultra sensual barrel-fruit appeal, a core of ripe and fleshy peach, tropicality enriched with flint-smoke and toasty notes, beeswax, lanolin, lime, caramel, buttered toast, and more, while the palate is impeccably balanced, generous but formally elegant, edgy, dry, juicy, and very long. Very much in its youth but showing the benefits of a scrupulous production process and some early hints at a very long and fine future.

13% ABV.
