Description
Château Mauras, Sauternes 2013, 500mls.
A blend of majority Sémillon, and minority Sauvignon blanc, barrel fermented and aged. The first Sauternes I’ve ever imported.
Explosive caramel, marmalade, cocoa, cumquat, earth, and oak. Quintessential Sauternes aromatics but the palate is not syrupy at all. For sure the initial attack is sweet and rich but the firm acidity of 2013 quickly pulls it all together and the finish is very fresh and more-ish. An extraordinarily yummy and drinkable Sauternes with at least 7 years ahead of it. Won a gold medal at the Grands Vins de France wine show.
