Description
Château d’Arcins 2016, Cru Bourgeois.
50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot.
One of the great Haut-Médoc estates, d’Arcins covers a whopping 100 hectares and its cellars are home to over 1200 French oak barrels. Welcome to Bordeaux’s big country! And yet the wine is simply classic claret, nothing too showy, oaky, or extracted, but all the right things in the right places: there’s a light tawny terracotta edge to the royal purple core, belying it’s slow coming of age, fresh forest fruits, blackberry and the Cabernet signature of cassis, while the palate is firm without being overbearing, mouth-filling but not rich, dry but ultimately smooth. It’s the model for all good, honest, claret, and it will justify its claim in your glass and in the cellar. Drink now to 2030+
