Description
Please note that the winery sent the 2021 vintage of this wine rather than the 2019. The 2021 is of an equal quality but the style is more elegant, more perfumed (less “heavy” fruit), and more medium bodied than the 2019, as you’d expect from the vintage. The 2021 has more tannin than the 2019 and consequently greater cellar potential. If you ordered this wine – the 2019 – and the change of vintage to 2021 poses any issue, please do not hesitate to contact us at wine@theotherbordeaux.com . The entry for the 2021 on this website can be found here : https://theotherbordeaux.com/shop/red-wine/domaine-du-pere-benoit-cote-de-brouilly-red-vintage-2021-copy/
#4. Domaine du Père Benoit “Côte de Brouilly” RED, vintage 2019.
100% Gamay. Average age of the vines used to grow this wine is 90 years.
Another seriously-old-vine wine but this time from one of the domaine’s best parcels, a tiny 0.65 hectare block at the top of the hill in the Brouilly sub-district. The fruit is plangent, dense, meaty and complex, with mulberries and tar, cassis and spice, mince pies, licorice, cherry jam, cedar wood and roast ham, while the palate is at the full end of medium with supple tannins, round but firm, textured and long in the mouth.
Drink now to 2028.
Post-arrival price will be $40.95 per bottle. Today’s pre-departure price is $33.95.
