60% Syrah (same as Shiraz) and 40% Grenache. Made by Bernard Duseigneur, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape maestro who is the winemaker (and owner) at Châteu de Maucoil, and a man who has generations of family winemaking expertise behind him, as well as his own whole life of vintages to draw on.
There is Côtes-du-Rhône, but then there is CÔTES-DU-RHÔNE!!! and the Anneaux de Saturne 2023 is squarely in the latter category. Powerful and gorgeous fruit, deeply spicy, jammy, and earthy, while the palate is voluminous, spirited, and lightly but definitely tannic. This is a work of high octane rusticity that is a crowd pleaser of the highest order. Epic Rhône drinkability. Not subtle but very impressive!
