Description
Natural sweet wine made in late autumn when the grapes are affected by Botrytis AKA “Noble Rot” still strikes me as one of the true miracles of wine and “Monbazillac”, the name given to sweet wines made in this way from the vineyards around Bergerac, is one of the greatest examples of it on Earth.
The Font Romaine is the Haut Montlong’s flagship sweet wine, contains the best fruit from the best vineyard blocks from the vintage, and is aged in barrel for up to 2 years before release: Wonderful heady fragrance, a kaleidoscope of confected complexity, caramel, cumquat, marzipan, frangipani, buttered toast, vanilla and oak. The palate is unctuous yet balanced with buzzing acidity and length. A very high class sweet wine. Drink now to 2035+
