Description
#5. Domaine Berthenet Red Burgundy Pinot Noir 2022.
100% Pinot Noir from the Berthenet vineyards in the villages of Buxy and Bissey-sous-Cruchaud that neighbour Montagny but this is classified as Bourgogne Pinot Noir. 50% aged in oak barrels.
Dark and plump ripe berry fruit, blackberry and sloe, damson and spice, oak and earth, smoky wildness, young and vibrant, while the palate is medium-bodied, round but firm with some very nice and light oak tannin, balanced, dry, and long. Persistent grip and flavour follow through. Very good value red Burgundy that totally puts to shame the vast majority of basic Pinot from this globally celebrated region. Still very young now and will develop beautifully over the next 5 years.
